Branch Code
The branch code is a set of numbers or letters that identifies a specific branch of a bank within the banking institution’s network. Like the bank code, each country has its own format for the branch code. In many cases, the branch code is part of the account number itself, especially in countries where the branch is identified within the account number structure.
For international wire transfers, a Cross-border/BIC code is typically required to ensure the money reaches the intended bank and branch. For local transfers, specific bank and branch codes relevant to the country’s banking system are used.
