Google Authenticator

How It Works:

– Once set up, Google Authenticator generates a six to eight-digit one-time code that refreshes every 30 seconds.

– When you log into a service that has 2FA enabled with Google Authenticator, you’ll be asked to provide the current code displayed on your app.

Setting Up Google Authenticator:

  1. Download the App:

– Install Google Authenticator from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).

  1. Enable 2FA on the Service:

– Go to the security settings of the account you want to add (like your Google account, banking app, etc.).

– Find the option to enable 2FA and choose to do so with a mobile app.

  1. Link the Account to Google Authenticator:

– A QR code will appear on your computer screen.

– Open Google Authenticator on your mobile device and tap the “+” icon to add a new account.

– Choose “Scan barcode” and use your phone’s camera to scan the QR code from the computer screen.

  1. Verify Setup:

– After scanning, a six-digit code will appear in the app.

– Enter this code on the website where you are enabling 2FA to confirm that everything is set up correctly.

  1. Backup Your Setup:

– Some services provide backup codes or options; ensure you note them down and keep them in a safe place.
